Hi to all!,
Im new on the community and my English isnt good so please understand.
I tried to install with Manual install successfully on my raspberry pi 3 the Home assistant with Virtual environment method because i want have rasbian lite OS.
Also i make Auto start using systemd for PYTHON VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT and my home assistant is fully working.
I tried to proceed to the next step to setup the Hass and i except to see on the web interface on my homeassistant but i spend 3 hours and i didnt.
I followed that commands :
So it look everything ok, after of that i decide to change the Auto start using systemd for docker, I make a restart the server, but i get again the default page of the home assistant without docker and especially without Hass
I searched all the forums but i cant find a solution !
Why did you change that?
Undo what you did there & it should work fine. Mine runs and auto starts with no issue.
If you cannot remember what you did then i is time to install again to a formatted card.
I thought must work after restart because will auto start the service with the docker,
Anyway i changed again the systemd for python environment i make restart the daemon and the services but the same think… no docker and no hassio
Look i decide to install both because (if i searched correct) i see that the hassio is a appliance of home assistant that is more user friendly especially for a niewbie such as me,
also most of the examples of home assistant using hassio…believe me, I want avoid the installation but i think that will have problem with the learning the examples.
You stated that you installed the python way, set it up for auto start, then installed hassio.
Those are conflicting with each other.
What installation??
Home Assistant is Home Assistant. Hassio is merely one method of running home assistant. It doesn’t change anything about the functionality of home assistant itself. Home Assistant components work on every installation method of Home Assistant.
Your post really doesn’t make sense.
You tried running hassio alongside home assistant running in Python, and it didn’t work because you can’t have 2 applications listening on the same port.
Just run one or the other. You only need ONE home assistant running
The process you followed should work and DID work until you did this:
The last line of the process you followed installs Home Assistant in a docker container and sets it to auto-start. That is the exact way I am currently running Home Assistant.
That may or may not work. Not all the changes may be reversed.
Formatting the SD Card with SD Formatter & starting again with a fresh Raspbian Lite installation would be safer. I usually install NOOBS Lite & then Raspbian Lite.
unfortunately that procedure followed remotely via ssh putty , and i dont want format it because i have unify controller installed, vpn server and web server installed on that raspbian!
I clear the systemd file , i stopped the auto start service, i rerun the installation of hassio
Sry i misunderstood that is a simple second method do not forget that it’s the first day now I made it clear to my mind.
I disabled the virtual machine and autostart and i make a hassio installation and i have a succesfully remotely working hassio interface!!!
I followed the procedure that i said and worked!!!
i cant believe that the procedure was much easier and with a much less command lines!!
Thank you very much all!
