HASS not stssarting

Hi everyone,

I have been use HASS for about a few months. I have any integrations. Today I ran into an issue. I added a new device for Smartthings (Smartthings has been configured for months as well). HASS did not come back after a restart.
I am running HASS in a VM (installed from an OVA).
I login in the console and run su logs:

I ran a core check -nothing
I did a restore from a config 2 weeks ago. -nothing

Stuck there… Any suggestions?

Run ping homeassistant.local in the command line. What’s the result?

Thanks for the response.

Is alive!

Go to http://homeassistant.local:4357 in your web browser. What do you see?

I see this:

Do any of these work: http://homeassistant.local, https://homeassistant.local, http://homeassistant.local:8123, https://homeassistant.local:8123

No, I reference by IP. My router doesn’t register. Also I am running a backup in parallel.

This is what I see in the log… Home assistant is not starting…

If http://homeassistant.local:4357/ works, then any other links to Home Assistant should work too. Just try all of them out, and see if any show anything.

I am getting this now when connecting to :8123

What about all of the other links? Do none of them work?

“myip”:8123 gives me the 404 error
my homeassitant in not registered in DNS. I do have a backup running now.
However, I made tons of config changes over the past few weeks. I am able to connect to the docker instance and mess with my config files. I stripped my configuration.yaml to bare bones. That didn’t fix it.
Now that I know how to connect to docker, I can pull files and bring my backup copy up to current. So I should be all set.
Now I am just messing with it to learn and see if I can get it running.
Thanks for responding!

Fixed it! It was a corrupt core.device_registry file.

Kinda glad this happened, I learned a ton.
