[hassio-addon] REQUEST: Pi-Hole DNS Server and Ad-Blocker

Hi,

I’m not sure if this is the place to request add-ons, but I would like to request that Pi-Hole (https://pi-hole.net/) be converted into an Hass.IO addon. It is a very versatile DNS/DHCP Server designed to run on the Raspberry Pi, lightweight, and has built-in ad blocking available. This also can run on PC’s using the same script described on the main page.

I have it running on a Raspberry Pi 1 B running alongside an instance of Mopidy on Raspbian for some time now, and it is nothing but stable and easy to use. Also as a bonus, there is a component for Home-Assistant for monitoring pi-hole already (https://home-assistant.io/components/sensor.pi_hole/)

+1 for this. I have 3 kids still at home age 7 - 13 and would love to keep them away from unneeded ads in their faces.

+1 here, still using 2 separate pis. I’ve been using it since the very beginning, it’s just so amazing!

I’m actually working on this addon at this moment.
Not sure when it will be finished.

It has been a month… I don’t think Frenck remembers us. I almost had the diginc Pi-hole docker container running, just didn’t know how to provide the needed params. I think we should start the work on a Pi-hole addon without Frenck…

I dont think that he did forget us. I just think he is very busy. He is a great contributor to HA, and is doing a lot of work :slight_smile:

Just a heads up, in one of the lists of pi-hole it blocks part of ‘plex’ so if you use plex component, make sure you whitelist it.

No need to whitelist anything, Actually you need to block this “metrics.plex.tv” from collecting data.
