Hassio Lost connection

Version: 2024.11.2

Hosted on Raspberry pi 4 with SSD.

Hello everyone, I have a strange problem with my hassio. I have a connection loss with the server (random) independent of the client devices. When I lose the connection if I try to ping the host machine they respond to me and all the add-ons installed in assio are working. However, I cannot connect and I receive the “connection lost” message. Furthermore, I noticed that my zigbee devices that I use via z2m don’t work until the hassio gui like the various dashboards come back online. This happens both from local IP and from public domain. I checked the logs of both the core and the supervisor, as well as every add-on present and I found absolutely no errors that could seem related to this behavior. The fact that it does this regardless of the device made me realize that it doesn’t depend on the client.

The only mistake I found most significant is

2024-11-20 23:26:08.562 ERROR (MainThread) [supervisor.homeassistant.api] Timeout on call http://172.30.32.1:8123/api/core/state

In the supervisor’s logs.

Hi Dhy19971,

Not as unusual as you might think.
Based on what you have said, odds are one of 2 things…
(There are other possibilities…)

A DNS problem.
What DNS server are you pointing at?
Are you trying to use pihole or adware?

A power problem.
My second guess would be is the power supply good enough to power the PI and the SSD, or do you have the SSD on a separate USB hub with it’s own power supply for the SSD.

As DNS I use the main router address. Now I have tried to set the primary and secondary DNS of Google. As for the power supply I have an original power supply for Pi4 and an SSD disk connected via USB. I have never had problems in almost 2 years, the problem suddenly appeared. I also tried to replace the SSD by importing a backup made for the occasion but I didn’t solve the problem. Let’s see if anything changes with the change I made to DNS.

Power supply’s do go bad sometimes, and TBH the 3 or 4 amp supply that came with the PI is on the edge to also run the drive. Adding an externally powered USB hub is recommended these days by everyone I know of here.

I decided to completely reset my setup and manually recreate the old setup. If the problem is a power supply problem it should reoccur. I’ll tell you in case it happens
