Hassio on raspberry pi 4 - how to add external usb drive?

Hello all,

I am running hassio on a raspberry pi 4 and I want to add an external USB drive to store the captured video files from motioneye and any other produced bulk data (snapshots, etc).

I need to be able to:

  1. Format the external USB Drive with ext4 FS (Linux native).
  2. Mount permanently (persist across reboots) the USB Drive to a folder.

I do not want to boot from the USB Drive.

I’ve been searching for over an hour google and the forums about this topic and could not find any straightforward solution to this very trivial task.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

I’d also like to add an external 1TB usb drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
