Is it possible in HassOS to move my MariaDB to an SSD drive on RPi4?
I realize RPi4 Boot to USB is not quite there yet, especially with HassOS.
But Ideally I’d like a way to at least move the MariaDB to the USB 3 SSD on a RPi4.
I’m not really ready to scratch HassOS, just yet and move to Hassio on Docker or whatever the next “easiest/fastest” way is. Unless that is the only way to do it.
I’m just scared of being shut down due to a SD card (high endurance Samsung Pro) failure in the meantime while waiting for better SSD RPi4 support (soon I hope?).
I am looking for the same solution. Running hassOS on RPi4 for 3 months. Has one case that had to restore whole system (not sure if it was SD card problem) but as a preventive measure want to move db (recorder integration) to SSD connected to USB 3.0.
Check out this link. Seems to have been the most helpful and latest I have found.
Though I have not tried it yet. Started experimenting with HA on Synology in Docker and on MacOS.
Thank you.
At this stage this procedure seems to be too complicated (I do not have separate Linus machine) and time invested to make SSD usage seem too much.
It seems that work to boot RPi4 from SSD in more user friendly way (HA functionality) is ongoing so at this moment I will wait for that.
There is alos more general this guide : https://jamesachambers.com/raspberry-pi-4-usb-boot-config-guide-for-ssd-flash-drives/ but also needs some bigger access to system that HassOS is providing so I have decided not to try it.
