What are the downside of using HASSWP as my main instance? I’ve read you don’t have access to supervisor, but not sure what that means beyond sending log info back to HASS central… Any help is appreciated.
I have an older Win10 machine and trying to decide which way to install HASS.
I do not think there is a bootable HASS (now HaOS) image for an x86-64 computer. THE HA page says you can install HA Core with WSL but I do not recommend that option. Virtual Box is not too difficult. After creating the VM, set the Network Card to Bridged Mode and the VM will get a network address on your home network.
I am starting with HASSWP for learning about it as intall is extremely fast/easy with reduced overhead of learning about virtual boxes. The documentation is so utterly appalling compared to MrHouse I want the familiar Windows tools available for delving into it. Be warned the video linked on Github however does NOT show what actually boots up.
Would running it in a virtual box slow it down too much on an old machine?
As for ‘support’ on the forum, unfortunately so much of it is written in Geek it often falls short anyway for non computer whizz kids.
