I have the following Aeotec light bulb.
My mother was watching the kiddos and slept on the couch in the living room and just turned this lamp off. The node was stuck in a Dead (Complete) mode. I tried healing it, refreshing it and there’s been some changes such as Dead (CacheLoad) and then trying to heal it and it would be in Initializing (Probe).
I’ve tried full on removing the node and then performing the unpairing instructions listed above in the link which is just turning the bulb off and on in succession 3 times. It doesn’t actually get removed.
The bulb acts like it’s some unholy purgatory, neither connected, nor can it be reset. I’m at a loss. Any ideas?
zwave devices usually have a (poorly documented) procedure to reset them: it usually involves pressing buttons on the device itself or similar procedures. Once done, you will have to remove the failed node:
Developer Tools -> States -> click on the entity -> edit the state attributes as follows
node_id: <node_id>
is_failed: true
-> Set state
Now in Configuration -> Z-Wave you will be able to select “Remove Failed Node”.
Since the device has been reset you should be able to re-include it. If it doesn’t, then you need to find the procedure to reset it (maybe contact the manufacturer?).
Thank you for the reply dark,
Eventually I was able to get the bulb into a failed state after a reboot. Once that happened I was able to click on “Remove Failed Node” and it removed Zwave Node #2 from my list of nodes.
I tried unsuccessfully to try and factory reset the bulb about 20 times but it just never would (FYI for these aeotec light bulbs it’s Off -> On 6 times.
On a flyer I just tried to add it back into Home Assistant and did “add node” in HA and then just turned it on and off a couple of times and low and behold it rejoined. Even got the same Node ID which surprised me. It’s now set back up and working properly. No idea why I could never factory reset it but at least after a failure and removing, and then re-adding it is now back up and functioning properly.
