So I renamed the device in the config, added use_address:, installed device, device works, but now I have these Adopt panels with the old name present. How do I get rid of Adopt? What does it even do? I can’t find information on this feature.
Also, how do I change the name for the YAML? If I just rename the file it then changes it back on it’s own.
I am guessing that the software is providing this choice for Adopt based on the fact that the YAML name and the actual device name are different. This would make sense. I’m just not sure how to rectify it. I’d still also like to know what Adopt is intended for.
Did you ever figure out a fix for this? I’m struggling with the same situation—a device is listed on the main screen asking me to “Adopt” the device but won’t go away.
To maybe dig a bit more: what are your setups for managing/adding/editing the ESPs?
For me: I dont have HA running on https, therefore I download the firmware file in the esphome dashboard within HA, but get sent over to web.esphome.io for actually uploading it to the board.
