Have you heard? Refoss just released a 6-channel Smart Energy Monitor EM06P — supports solar, Home Assistant & local web control!

Hi everyone,

I’m a product manager at Refoss. I plan to join discussions here from time to time, to listen to your feedback and suggestions so we can keep improving our products.

This is my first post in the forum. I’d like to share that Refoss has recently launched the EM06P Smart Energy Monitor. Since I know the community is cautious about marketing-style posts, I won’t include any sales links here. If you’re interested, you can always find more details on the Refoss official website.

If there’s anything in this post that goes against the community guidelines, please feel free to let me know and I’ll be happy to adjust it.

Have you heard? Refoss recently launched a feature-packed Smart Energy Monitor (Model: EM06P). Whether you’re managing solar power at home or need multi-circuit monitoring, this device is definitely worth checking out.

Here are the main highlights:

:wrench: Open API Access & Smart Platform Integration: Supports HTTP (JSON-RPC 2.0) and MQTT protocols for easy integration with platforms like Home Assistant. When used with solar systems, it enables “zero feed-in” operation to avoid excess solar energy flowing back into the grid, improving energy efficiency for solar-powered homes.

:zap: 6-Channel High-Current Monitoring with Flexible Merging: Supports monitoring of 6 independent circuits, with each channel capable of up to 120A. Channels can be flexibly merged to show total power usage, and are ideal for viewing both individual phases and the total consumption of a 3-phase heat pump or other complex loads.

:bar_chart: Minute-Level Monitoring & Multi-Dimensional Data Views: Offers real-time minute-level energy tracking, along with daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly views to help analyze consumption trends, identify peaks and lows, and support smart energy planning. Built-in free cloud service supports uploads at minute, hourly, and daily intervals, with daily data stored for up to 5 years—no subscription needed.

:sunny: Solar and Wind Energy Input Monitoring: Supports input power monitoring from solar panels, wind turbines, and other renewable sources, enabling green energy planning and optimization.

:dart: High Accuracy & Key Electrical Parameter Display: Delivers ±1% accuracy and supports viewing of voltage, current, active power, and power factor for each monitored circuit—ideal for precision energy management.

:globe_with_meridians: Local Web Interface, No App Required: Access and configure the device via its built-in local Web UI. Once connected to Wi-Fi, simply use the local IP address within your LAN—no mobile app dependency.

:brick: Standard DIN Rail Installation, Compact and Certified: Designed for standard DIN rail mounting, with a flame-retardant PC enclosure and high-gain antenna for stable performance. Certified to EN 61010 and includes a 2-year warranty for peace of mind.

With solar support, 6-channel monitoring, and free cloud storage, it delivers strong performance and value. Definitely worth a look.

Ticks all the boxes for easy integration from superficial reading.

The devil is in the detail.
Where is the cloud data stored? What are the security protocols in place to secure that data from third parties?

Is it Matter compatible?

Do you need to register anywhere to start using your product out of the packet?

Does your documentation have clear examples suitable for everyday use? With clear comments for AI to be able to interpret as well as humans? For my electrician to easily wire it in place?

I see there are up to 16 channel devices available too. Should possibility be enough for most tinkerers!

Wish you the best with devices that fit a growing market requirement.

why is it so hard to buy your products?

In Asia the easiest method is via Aliexpress, but you basically never have the EM16 available.
I saw it pop up once and marked it to buy, but then 2 days later if was gone again

May I ask which model you need — the 6-channel EM06P or the 18-channel EM16?

Thank you for your interest! Here are some clarifications:

Data Storage & Local Usage
Refoss cloud data is stored on our own servers with secure protocols. At the same time, devices such as EM06P support full local usage, completely independent of Refoss cloud services. You can also access the data via the Refoss Local Open API:
:point_right: Refoss doc

Matter Protocol
Matter is not supported and will not be supported in the future.

Registration & Usage

Using the Refoss App (cloud service) requires account registration.

Full local usage does not require registration.

Support & Documentation
We provide detailed manuals, installation videos, and responsive customer support to help users resolve issues quickly.

Product Information

EM06P already supports full local usage with 6 channels.

If you need more channels (e.g., 16 channels), we have a new product, EM16P (note: not EM16), which supports 18 channels. It is currently under development and expected to be released in a few months.

yeah understand, but hopefully it is ok as I am specifically asking.

It was the large model, I have 2 cabinets that can accept up to 32 breakers (about 60% utilized), so I was thinking to put 1 or 2 per cabinet.

Can you flash the EM06 to a EM06P ? because the EM06 is such a wonderful product

Hello
Okay, I understand. I recommend you consider our upcoming EM16P, which supports 2 large and 16 small CTs, with a total of 18 monitoring channels. Please contact [email protected], attach a screenshot of my reply, and mention that you are participating in the Beta Test program. Our colleague will register you for the program. There is a possibility that a sample will be sent to you for experience by the end of October (of course, it’s free of charge)

This is the kind of support that is encouraging. A vendor working with customers to make their product reliable, field tested, well documented, and solving real world needs.

Thank you for your comment. Our ultimate goal is to provide users with higher quality and better products.

I would also like to know where the EM06P can be bought in Europe (Belgium).
I already received one as a beta tester, but I want to order at least one additional one and dont want to fall back to the older model EM06P as the new one is much better.

On the other hand it would be a lot better is there would be a European version of the EM16P that also supports 3-phase circuits in stead of only 2-phase circuits which is not that common in europe

Dear @Refoss_PM ,

Thank you for your message and informing of the forthcoming EM16P.

If you need more channels (e.g., 16 channels), we have a new product, EM16P (note: not EM16), which supports 18 channels. It is currently under development and expected to be released in a few months.

I recommend you consider our upcoming EM16P, which supports 2 large and 16 small CTs, with a total of 18 monitoring channels.

A couple of questions that may help the community:

  • Do you have an ETA for the release of the EM16P ?
  • Is it for the EU market (like EM06 / EM06P) ?
  • Is it compatible with HASSIO ?
  • Does it work with cloud or can it work fully local ?
  • What are the dimensions of the large / small CTs ?
  • Do you have a specifications sheet ?
  • Do you have a price range ?

I just received the EM06 but haven’t installed it yet, and now I wonder if I shouldn’t send it back and wait for the EM16P.

Thank you for your feedback and support.

Best regards.

Alexandre

Seem to be unable to order the EM16P in Belgium (only get USD sites). Is your Beta Test program still ongoing, and if so, can I still apply? Will the EM16P even work in Europe, Belgium, with 1 or 3 phase power supplies?

Local Web Interface, No App Required: Access and configure the device via its built-in local Web UI. Once connected to Wi-Fi, simply use the local IP address within your LAN—no mobile app dependency.

Thanks you for your NO PHONE APP approach. Will your EM16 device work WITHOUT any active internet connection on my intranet? It won’t get any internet access, even for initial setup.

I am looking at your EM16 system on amazon.

I have an EM06P
In HA it’s working fine.
Main downside: the CT clamps are way to big to be used in a EU/NL typical main switchboard,

=> how to fit the third phase clamp in between here!

From Refoss I got a negative answer on the question if we could use an alternative (smaller) clamp.

Same situation here with an EM06 in a Belgian board which is quite similar to Dutch. The only way to solve this would be to extend the middle cable with extra wire (and a wago connector). Goal is to make a ‘loop’ coming out in between where you can put the clamp. Just make sure to use same wire gauge (or thicker) to correspond with the breaker amperage. I see you got B16s, so 1.5mm2 should do. If in doubt, use 2.5mm2.
Afraid there are physical limits on how small they can build these clamps to still be functional and remain reliable.

PS. Nice how your NL boards are constructed bottom up. Mine is top-down which seems suboptimal.

PS2. Also nice to see you got your power harness connected to your rails below. I struggled with this and had them at the top of the breakers. Will change my setup!
