Hi All,
I’m super stuck (and honestly feeling a bit stupid that I can’t work this out). I’m trying to add Unifi Protect to HA, and getting the unhelpful error “Failed to connect”.
On the Unifi end of things:
I have a Cloud Key Plus Gen 2 (ver 4.1.11)
Network (ver 9.0.114)
Protect (ver 5.2.62) fresh install, actually never installed before yesterday
I have a new local only account, and an existing local only account I’m using to connect the network side of things (this is working).
the directions say to go 192.168.1.1/admins/ but when I do I get the “Set up Complete” page with the only option as “open site manager”
On the HA side
I’m running the latest version (2025.3.4)
I’ve tried with both the ip of the router and the CK. I’ve tried port 443 and 8443. I’ve tried both my accounts, plus root.
Setting > Config > Logs shows nothing.
I’m sure I’m overlooking something simple, but I cant for the life of me figure out what I’m missing.
Hi,
The goal here is to create an admin account for HA to login to Unifi.
It is some time ago since I set this up on my CK2+, however Unifi added multi-site support and changed how user accounts are configured.
My guess is to try logging into cloud Unifi (https://unifi.ui.com/) and look at Site → Settings (gear icon, bottom left) → Admins & Users. That’s where my HA admin user appears.
At the top “Site Manager” level, there’s also Admins on the left side tab.
Once logged-in, to get camera access, you need to export the RTSP stream - don’t go for the HD option as that can overwhelm some devices.
If this helps,

Hi @FloatingBoater,
Yes, I typically access my stuff through the above url. For a while I was running two sites, but am not down to one. Through site manager I am unable to set up a new user as its wants a email. If I select the CKG2Plus controller and got to setting > admin & users > create new admin i have checked “restrist to local assess only” when creating both my HA accounts (the one that works with my existing copy of HA Unifi Network, and the new HA account I was testing with HA Unifi Network. Ultimately, I see no reason to have account, but for now if it helps in troubleshooting I’ll keep them.
As for the local IP, I was only including that information because it was in the directions, and my results where different than the expected results. Possibly due to some obscure setting in Unifi?
Thanks for the tip on setting up camers, I can’t wait to get that far.
In case it helps, here’s a redacted screenshot from a working Unifi account created only for HA access:
Accesed via https://unifi.ui.com/ , and no email set (later added by UI for password recovery perhaps?).
If this helps,

That looks like exactly what I have.
I’m still a bit puzzled as to why Network seems to be ok, and Protect is balking. The only thing that makes sense to me is that it can’t access my router via a local IP.
SOLVED -
Ok, for whatever reason i had use my local CKG2P url to create a local account, then I could point HA to the CKG2P, and the new local account.
Thank you @FloatingBoater for persisting that it was account/authorization issue.
