I recently bought a house and this is a good opportunity to rethink my home automation setup. One point that puzzles me a bit is the heating.
Up until now I lived in an apartment where I had no control over the heater itself. Instead I went with the EQ3 Max! line of individual radiator thermostats. It works okay, though the setup app is a bit cumbersome and the hub tends to forget all devices when polled too often by home-assistant.
So I am wondering if there is a better system - what would you recommend for the following requirements:
has individual radiator controls
has control of the central heater (eg. turn off the heater when all rooms are warm enough)
has support for window sensors
optionally supports other sensors
works fine even when the Internet connection is down
automation and use (through HASS) does not require a monthly fee
is available in Europe (Germany)
What are you folks using? What’s your experience with the system you picked?
Always depends of your needs, and what is the best for you. This is maybe it’s enough to control only one room temperature or all complete rooms in your house. But one solution for your country maybe it’s https://www.gigaset.com/de_de/gigaset-thermostat-3er-pack/ you can control using some public libraries (if you need another library I have one, not yet public). This libraries are on Github:
In this particular case I like because the technology used in this device: based on DECT radio but I don’t have real experience on this thermostat by myself.
