I’m also new to home assistant having provisioned my own instance on a QNAP TS-251. Getting the image in a suitable package for the VM was fun!! I have steps if anyone is interested…
My ‘smart’ home mainly consists of blinds, lights and heating. The interoperability between sensors in the same domain sucked, so step in HA! I now have zoned heating in every room and I’m getting a balanced temperature across each room
