Help choosing the best install/migration method

Ok, so I tried to figure out the best way to install Home Assistant, with my requirements of configuration.

I have HA running in a Hyper-V VM today (HassOS). But I want to connect a ConBee II stick, and Hyper-V does not support USB pass-through. So staying on Hyper-V is not an option as usbip is not available to HassOS if I understand it correctly?

This leaves me with re-using my old RPi 3 to install HA on. But as I’d like the logs and DB to go on a separate USB-disk, HassOS is not an option as there are no support of moving/redirecting the logs and DB to another disk/partition in HassOS.
The only option, based on the above, seems to be running HA Core on Raspberry Pi OS Lite on my RPi. Is this correct?

Are there any problems restoring a snapshot made in HassOS to a Core instance?

Ok, so answering myself… I installed VMware vSphere on a computer I had laying around and fired up the official OVA of HassOS, VMware has USB pass-through support so I will just plug in the ConBee stick to the host and then attach it to the VM.

I ran into the same issue recently and ended up running HassOS in VirtualBox. I believe USBIP is an option, but it looked like a bit of a nightmare to me. I stumbled upon this blog the other day but haven’t given it a shot yet.
