I currently run home assistant virtualised via Oracle on a Windows 10 touchscreen all in one PC and have been thinking about changing to running home assistant OS. I have a spare 500gb HDD from a micro PC that no longer works and a spare SATA HDD slot in the all in one PC. My intention was to remove the SATA cable and HDD from the old mini PC and connect as second HDD, then install and run home assistant OS from the second disk and keeping Windows on the other. I discovered that the motherboard connectors are different (but the HDD end connector is the same as my other SATA connectors. I’ve spend last few evenings trying to ID what type of connector my old micro PC has as the HDD only has the one cable where as others I’ve come across before usually have data and power cables so want some clarification on that but also to make sure I get the right kind of lead / adaptor
The PC I want to install the HDD in has a connector like is shown in the last picture below, all the rest are of the connector I’m trying to ID. Any help ID the connector massively appreciated.
OK, thanks - so even though the HDD had a different motherboard connector in the old PC I’ll be fine just to get one for the PC I want to put it in like you suggest?
I ordered in the cables - the red data cable fits perfectly, but although one end of the power cable fits the HDD fine, the connection on the motherboard end is far too big for any of the connections on my motherboard.
I’ll attach one pic that shows the type of connector I need and another pic showing the connection on my motherboard - do you know what this connector is called? Although I’ve found ebay listings for replacement cables for my machine none of them say what type of connector it is and not having any luck online.
