So I think I must have something wrong, either with the way I’ve setup the energy monitor or with the data feeds, but Im at a bit of a loss…
So I have feeds from an EmonCMS system with Import, Export and Generation kWh figures configured as per below:
On a typical not so sunny day, the energy dashboard looks like I would expect it to. However on sunnier days, when there are periods as depicted in the chart of 1 hour bars that were fully provided for by solar generation, the energy dashboard shows no consumption for those periods. I know this not to be true because the house draws around 1.6kW when it is idle. Also I have a “consumption” meter in the emonCMS system that shows continuous consumption throughout the day.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what I have setup wrongly or where the data could be going wrong to produce these bars with no consumption?
Thanks
Hi,
Not sure if it’s of any use, but I thought I’d share the feed I created to achieve your goal.
Using the GRID value from my solar, I created three feeds;
Grid Power - gives me live current values I’m importing or exporting at a glance. I use the “log” value and can use this to see real time figures.
Next I only allow positive values and use “Power to kWh” to add the figures to an all time feed called Grid Export. This is the energy I’m pushing back into the grid.
Finally, I reset the input and only allow negative values, this gives me the draw from the grid. HOWEVER because HA only allows positive values, I do some math to turn it into a positive figure and add that to my final feed “Grid Import”.
These three feeds all work as expected in HA Engery dashboard.
Dunno if this is useful information, but I had to work most of it out on my own as I couldn’t find much in the way of documentation when I set this up a few years back.
Best of luck
Thanks for the reply, I wonder if there is something in this statement you make. I wasn’t aware of this, I shall do some investigating!
