Help me decide? Wired in smart aqara switch or battery powered scene switch

I currently have to make the decision to go with:

  1. Aqara lightswitches
  2. Tuya scene switch on top of a lightswitch cover (has a notch in it) with magnets that mounts on top of the existing lightswitch (UK)

Both look nice aesthetically wise.

Aqara
Pros:
-Zigbee routers
-No battery issues
-Can control fan in bathroom

Cons:
-Need to install/chisel out for larger backbox

Scene switch:
Pros
-Long Battery
-Ease of install
-Looks good
-Ease of access to physical switch

Cons:
Battery (5y though)
No zigbee router
Not physically connected so can’t control fan in bathroom like aqara solution could
More costly (have to pay for lightswitch cover (15,-) and tuya switch (15) but that offsets installation cost i guess. Aqara switches can be costly.

I prefer the look of the tuya scene switch. Aqara looks slick i guess but nothing to write home about. But the real kicker is, is the need for the aqara’s to control coloured smart bulbs. Can they do that ? If they can that will probably be the decider and i’ll go with them.

Unless i can find a way to control the bathroom fan with wifi/zigbee
Thank you greatly for your wise input.

Chiseling out the back of the box doesn’t sound like a good practice, Replacing with a bigger box sounds more sanitary. I think the cost for installation is going to make the Tuya total cost less expensive and you prefer the look. Don’t know how the fan is wired but a shelly could allow the wifi fan control you are looking for.

Good luck.
