Hi everybody,
I have been using Neato Botvac robots for years. Recently, all started failing giving error 4000 (laser not being able to scan surroundings any longer, device not working at all).
This was the case with my previous botvac, which wqs in the shop three times (without providing a temporary device), which really suckrd (unlike their product). I gave a newer model a chance , which just today presented me with the same error again. I cleaned the entire device, including the laser sensor, and followed all steps neato provides in their help section without success.
I want to switch to a different company as this is not acceptable for me. While I obviously prefer a smart device (or rather, an app controlled one) I’ll even go for the non-smart variant if it works fine.
- two floors
- lots (!) of animal hair
- mostly hard floors, few rugs
- often different state of floors (things laying around in places that won’t cause problems, but are sometimes there and sometimes not)
While we only use one device for two floors currently, it must be switchable; I had a vacuum / wet cleaning hybrid once that worked great, but it had to scan all my before cleaning, so when you switched floors it would not work!
I thought of a roomba (perhaps the one with the station that will empty the dust compartment for me), but reviews I read weren’t that great. Then, if I understand correctly, it will scan the rooms via camera and then only go by the map it created from this material, so I assume if somebody leaves stuff on the floor it might cause a problem for the robot?
A powerful vacuum that can handle two floors daily, and has no problem with lots of dog hair would be great. If it can be integrated in home assistant on top I’d be set. What can you recommend from personal experience?
Thanks for your ideas
