Help me identify these wires please! (Neutral or not | Shelly 1 or 1L)

Hey there!

I want to install a Shelly 1, behind a switch that controls a plug.
There is one switch, and a double switch, so I can use all the wires available there.
I want to automate the left one of the duo.

This is the double switch, I want to put a Shelly behind the left one.

This is the single switch above, I can split these wires if I need to.

Would you guys be able to help me identify these wires?
There are 3 wires in both pictures.

I am mostly interested in the neutral wire (is it there or not).
So I know if I need the Shelly 1 or Shelly 1L.

Ask any questions if you have them! :smiley:

If you don’t know what you are doing, hire an electrician.

But what if I want to learn to know what I am doing.

Go and get an electrical apprenticeship.

Ehm ok, I guess I’ll ask somebody else to help then… But is there a neutral wire or not?

Start reading some diagrams regarding light switches, learning from pictures is awkward.

In europe:
brown = L = 220v (Live)
blue = N = 0v (Neutral)
black =(L)= 220v (switch wire)
green/yellow = E = earth

Thank you! I also got a family member to help me, so I will mark yours as solution :smiley:
Have a nice day!

Three wires connected to the switch usually suggests two-way lighting; I’m guessing these switches are for a staircase or long hallway?
If there’s a neutral in a light switch it will usually either be loose (but insulated) or connected to another neutral in a separate terminal block/connector. It won’t be connected to a switch terminal.
Anyway, I know you already marked it as solved, but perhaps this will help someone reading looking for a solution.
