[Help needed] LEGO Millenium Falcon USB lights automation

Hello everyone and thank you in advance,

As the topic is saying I have built a LEGO Millenium Falcon and added some LED lights on it (this one to be precise: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0855D6RD2/). The lights came with a small box requiring 3 AA batteries, and a manual switch.

The ship is on a stand, in a really tall bookshelf with no proximity to a power socket and I would like to have a button on my HA interface which will allow me to turn on/off the lights. I can use a USB battery for the power but what I miss is a bluetooth or network switch.

I hope I was enough clear to expose my problem and I can find a solution for it.

One option would be to use an ESP32 board running WLED. This could be USB powered and controlled via wi-fi from HA.

The problem will be keeping it powered. It’ll need a few batteries.

hi @templeton_nash thank you, that maybe an idea to explore

Maybe something like that but not sure it is supported by HA

WiFi will drain your battery (depending on its size) within a few weeks. I’d look into low energy protocols (Zigbee, Z-Wave, BLE).

hi @FPro this is a good point, I mentioned WiFi as possible alternative but you are definitely right on the battery drain issue

Did you find any working method?
