i have a HA Green with a Connect ZBT-1 for Matter, i only use Tado X on this Matter network but i’m kind off confused to how it works. Tado X also has a matter bridge but when i unplug this Matter Bridge i can still use the Tado app to control everything?
And then there is the thread part of HA… i have Thread and Open Thread Border Router? So which one connects to the Matter part? i’m kind of confused… in the Open Tread border router it says that it’s connected to the Connect ZBT-1 but no devices. and when i click configure in Thread it says it is connected to the open thread border router but it also sees the Tado Border Router?
i read somewhere that i dont even need the Matter stick since i already have the Tado Bridge?
Also, the Matter network is kind of unstable, lot’s of times the Tado valve drop off the network for no apparent reason so if something interferes with another i would like to get it sorted but not sure what does what. when i want to reconnect everything i have to replug the Tado matter bridge which leads me to believe i’m using that in Home Assistant? like i said, i’m confused
edit: i almost never use the Tado app, always from my dashboard in HA
Think of Thread a bit like WiFi, it is just infrastructure. Your Tado Thermostat X can be connected to the tado-2d11 network or the ha-thread-38c7 network. Which one got used depends on what onboarding flow you used: On Android, if you synced the Thread credentials with Home Assistant before the initial onboarding, then likely the Home Assistant network is being used. The Thread documentation page might have some useful information too: Thread - Home Assistant.
Unfortunately, it is not easy to tell from the Android phone which is the preferred network .
To use the device via Matter, you need to add your Thermostat X to Home Assistant via Matter. If the device is available via the Tado App, go to Rooms & Devices, find the device in question, and click on “Matter device linking”. There should be a pop-up, where you can select Home Assistant (might be hidden behind other apps or similar).
Thanks for your reply. apparantly all my Tado thermostats are connected to the Tado Bridge in Home Assistant. I unplugged the ZBT-1 and everything is still connected. All this time i thought i used the ZBT-1 haha. would there be any down or upside to using the Tado Bridge or the ZBT-1?
