I have been trying to connect to my mother in laws home assistant that I just stood up and I have been unable to connect to it. Mine at home uses ngnix and duckdns for its access but I set hers up to just use the built in Home Assistant Cloud. I have configured her router to port forward 8123 to the HA Green that is running there but I can’t connect to it from our HA using either the WAN IP nor the HA Cloud URL. From what I can tell the HA Cloud URL is just a proxy to her instance as the IP from the NSLOOKUP isn’t her WAN IP. What should I be doing to get these to connect so I can have a single pane of glass to manage it and give us push notifications if she has taken her pills yet, etc.
You do not need to do this if using the HA (Nabu Casa) cloud. There is also support from Nabu Casa directly for troubleshooting:
And you can open a ticket here:
Yeah it was a last step in troubleshooting (opening that port) and when I went to create a ticket they said I needed to show I have tried the community first and discord. I have a post on Reddit and also have tried ChatGPT so I was hoping someone here has the answer I need. The UI for connecting to a remote node asks for the URL/IP for which I have tried the nabucasa URL and her WAN IP, the port and the API token. I have tried a couple of different ports for it 8123, 443 etc but I keep getting unable to connect. I will let these posts bake a little bit more before opening a support ticket. Thank you
Are you trying to connect using the Home Assistant Companion app or the WebUI?
