I purchased a BroadLink 4 Pro hoping to consolidate all remote controls into a single app, “BroadLink,” on my iPhone 13.
I’m trying to use the app “BroadLink” to control the Advanced Digital Broadcast SA model T-We Box (2) v.2.0. Unfortunately, support Telenor has not been able to provide useful information, as they claim the device uses IR, but I am convinced it operates with RF signals.
I’ve tried to get the “BroadLink” app to recognize the remote control’s RF signals, but I haven’t had any success. Additionally, the BroadLink manual is not detailed enough to assist me with this issue.
Are there any solutions that could help me?
How should I approach this problem? The BroadLink menus are a bit difficult to navigate and not always very intuitive!
Is this actually a question about Home Assistant? We have a Broadlink integration but no app.
You can check whether a remote is sending IR or RF by looking at the light on the end through your mobile phone camera. With the naked eye you will not be able to see it flash, but you will be able to see it through the camera.
And with the HA (Home Assistant) companion app you can control devices that are integrated all in 1 app, so no need for numerous apps that are draining your battery!
Thank you for your interest in solving my problem.
Since I submitted the question, I have discovered that the device ADB (Advanced Digital Broadcast SA) model T-WE (2) receives via Bluetooth and, according to the manual, can also receive via IR (which I have not been able to get to work).
The problem with not being able to use the BroadLink 4 Pro is that it does not support Bluetooth remote controls, which is why I couldn’t establish a connection with the device.
