I’m slowly but surely phasing out my old Insteon devices but there is one I’m not sure about. I have an InlineLinc Relay with Sense that will trigger when the connected spotlight detects motion. I think the Aeotec inline relay will work, but I’m not sure if the S1 and/or S2 posts work the same as the Insteon does.
If your motion sensor switches the sense line to live when it detects motion (which is very likely), then the Aeotec will work exactly the same as your current setup (sense goes to S1 or S2). And you’ll get an additional switch input too.
Neutral (white) to N.
Line (black) to both L and IN.
Floods (red) to OUT.
Motion sensor to S1 or S2.
Ground doesn’t go anywhere on the Aeotec (it’s all plastic) but may be required on the wallbox if made of metal.
You may have to adjust the zwave parameters accordingly, so it reacts as it should to the signal on S1/2. I recall that there are several modes available for switch, momentary switch, toggles, etc.
I agree - @CO_4X4 some insteon doc somewhere should be able to confirm the wiring on that - but last time I remember working on a fixture like that with a sense line it acted exactly how @HeyImAlex describes. Just confirm it with a meter.
You may want to use a ZWave motion sensor and forgo the ZWave switch. The HomeSeer HS-FLS100 G2 ZWave motion sensor allows me to control the a floodlight and set motion sensor parameters. Plus, unlike the Insteon micro module it replaces, it doesn’t take up any more room in the box and is rated for outdoor temperatures. I wish I had known about these earlier.
