I just tried one of my groups and it is now working as per yours. Perhaps in the year since I noticed this firmware updates (or HA updates!) have changed the behaviour. I’ll try my other groups when I get the chance.

One of the causes of protracted online technical debates is the two parties are (unknowingly) not using the same version of software or hardware. They report conflicting results because they aren’t actually comparing identical systems (or recollections of past behavior).
