I recently installed ESPHome on one of my Sonoff mini r2’s but for my specific automation I need the mini to be able to realise if power is being drawn or not. I am quite new to ESPHome so I have no idea where to start. I am also wondering if this will even be possible with a device that was really intended for something completely different. Can anyone help me?
The MiniR2 isn’t capable of telling if current is being drawn on it’s own. It might be possible to DIY with additional components, but it would not be a “new to DIY electronics” project. You would be better off using something like a Shelly Plus 1PM or Sonoff DUALR3 that already has power monitoring built in.
