Help with understanding the concepts of home assistant

Hello everyone

I am pretty new to home assistant and am trying to grasp the different concepts.
So far I have it controling my Sonos speaker, as well as having added a Z-wave light bulb and a Z-wave multi sensor from fibaro that detects movement, temperature, light etc.

So if I start from the begining. Under Z-wave configuration I have a list of Z-wave nodes. These are the physical device. So in my list I have
my light bulb
my z-wave stick
my fibaro multi sensor
(Seems I can only attach one picture)

This makes sense.
So I select my fibaro multi sensor.
When selected I have a list of “node values”

This seem to be different, something… I can see temperature and Light there, but also “Burglar” and “Alarm type”
Can I get some help in defining what this is?

Then I have some “node group associations”
If I understand correctly this is used if I want the multi sensor to send a signal to another Z-wave device without needing the controller.
Here I have
(cannot attach picture)

So from the look of the above, it seems my Z-wave controller has detected the device properly. I used secure mode when adding it btw.

If I click at “History” I can also see temperature från the multi sensor, as well as when the motion sensor triggers and light levels.

But if I click the “states” under development tools, I can not see any states for the temperature or light, only the motion sensor.

The multi sensor also has a tamper alarm of some sort. When I pick it up it blinks in different colors. But I cannot find that this trigger anything in home assistant.

I guess what I am after is a complete list of the entity_id’s for the different sensors in the multi sensor, and showing what values they can have.

In the states tab, filter on the name of your sensor to see more attributes: Monitor the “state” column when you change the temperature, Open the sensor (tamper), or do motin (Burglar).

Well this is where it is strange.
If I look at the states page I see only these two entries for fibaro

But I know that HASS can read the temperature and light, as I can see them in the “History” page.

I put the node closer to my Z-wave gateway, renamed it, and restarted HASS. And now I can see all the different sensors in states. Nice!
