Help with Zigbee dimmer not dimming?

Hello,
I purchased 2 zigbee dimmers and had them installed.

The dimmer switch purchased is this one:

and I presume it is the same as this one, for reference:

One of them was installed to dim the lights on a chandelier. The chandelier has standard icandescent globes, totally around 350W and the dimmer works fine. The dimming function works perfectly by touching the up/down arrows on the switch, and by sliding the slider in HA, and even shows the percentage dimming.

The other dimmer was installed to dim 6 LED downlights. The LED downlights are these:

Prior to having the zigbee dimmer switch installed, I had the LED downlights running off a conventional dimmer:

and the worked and dimmed perfectly!

After having the zigbee dimmer installed (ie replacing the old rotary knob and switch), I am now unable to dim the LED downlights. They come on at full brightness and pressing the up/down arrows on the switch dont have any effect on the brightness. When I do press the up/down arrows the the brightness intensity percentage changes in HA, so I know that the light switch is working. I can also adjust the slider in HA, but the brightness of the LED’s doesn’t change.

Can someone please help how I can solve this problem? I’m tempted to go out and buy alternative downlights, but this may not solve the problem.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It’s wired to both line and neutral, right?

There are few possibilities, why it’s not working.

  1. it’s defective
  2. it’s leading edge dimmer and your led driver needs trailing edge dimming
  3. 6x8W load is too low for that dimmer

I ended up getting it working, and this is what I did. I went to Bunnings(Australian Home Depot equivalent) and bought one each of these:

https://www.bunnings.com.au/deta-9w-…E&gclsrc=aw.ds

https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-9w…E&gclsrc=aw.ds

https://www.bunnings.com.au/philips-…E&gclsrc=aw.ds

And I removed one of the existing led downlights and I connected each one of these instead. Surprise, surprise, both the Arlec and Philips downlight made the array of 6 LED downlights dimmable. I tested using the switch and the HA app slider and both worked well, with the Arlec having the smoother transition.

The Deta LED downlight could not be dimmed.

So, I then bought another 5 of the Arlec LED downlights and swapped them over, and I’ll repurpose the existing click ones in other areas where I don’t use a dimmer.
