I have a new instance of Hassio, which I am configuring using UI mode instead of yaml. In some of my views, badges show up on top of my cards, e.g. Updater, Sun, IKEA remotes battery level, etc… I would like to hide them, without disabling the actual enitity from HA. I have looked into Configuration --> Customizations, but these entities doesn’t seem to have a show/hide toggle.
How can I hide them without switching to yaml mode?
In the top right corner, click the “3 dots” icon and then select “Configure UI” (in the next release 0.115 this will be called “Edit Dashboard”). You’ll get a confirmation prompt asking if you want to take control of your Lovelace dashboard.
As the confirmation prompt will warn you though, once you take control you are responsible for managing your own layout and manually adding entities etc. It won’t be automatically generated for you anymore. However you can always switch back.
Once you do, you’ll be able to manage these badges and your complete layout via the GUI - no YAML needed. You can get a feel for the GUI editors by using the demo site (though some things are not currently functional on the demo).
I am not getting any confirmation prompt, going right into the gui editor. I have been adding, configuring and moving a number of cards in different views already with the gui. Nowhere can I find an option to hide these badges. When clicking one of the badges and configure, I only get the option to inactivate the entity, which is not what I want.
Oh, that’s good then, as you’ve already done the hard part. What you want to do is look at the very top of your dashboard when in configure/edit mode. See the orange pencil icon next to the home view, you’ll want to click that.
This will bring you to a screen where you can edit the view settings. There’s a Badges tab there where you can delete or re-arrange the order of your badges.
