HifiBerry Digi and Home Assistant

Hello everyone!
I’ve recently migrated from FHEM and seem to have run into an issue I cannot resolve.

I’m running my HA on a rpi4 with a hifiberry digi+ board attached. I used to use this as a spotify player, which I would theoretically be able to do with the spotify connect addon.

However, the Hifiberry Digi+ board does not show up as an audio device. After some research, I found a few posts from a few years ago that had the same issue but never any solution.

So my question is did anyone ever get this to work? Home Assistant just not supporting this usually so problem-free hardware without any apparent issue would be kind of a dealbreaker, at least with FHEM I had control over my own raspberry pi and was able to use it normally.

HiFiBerry stuff is pretty well supported, generally speaking.

Having said that, it is more of a hardware/kernel/driver/DTB kind of issue. Which is lower in the stack than HA. Well, depending on your install type (HAOS, container, etc.) which you might need to change, in order to get the hardware working.

I use a lot of RPi (with HiFiBerry devices) for client devices in my multi-room setup, but I am running HA in a container on a different device on the network.

I know it’s not specific help, but I hope it helps in understanding the problem at a high level.
