Hikvision help

Hi guys,

I’ve just had 3 Hikvision camera installed and would like to hook them up to HA

Does anyone have the images hooked up to HA? If so how do I do it?

I read it may need https port 443 the problem is I’m using the port to host my own domain

Have a look here: Need help with Hik Camera in HA

hi did you have to change anything in hikvision settings?

i cant seem to get it to work

How is your Hikvision setup?

If the cameras are powered by the nvrs built in Poe switch you won’t be able to access the cameras as it’s a different network.

You may have to use each channel configuration from the nvr. Not sure of the URL off top of my head.

Thank you for the info

I was able to get it to work the channel is 101 not 1

I have a bunch of HikVision cameras in my setup, and I took screenshots of each and every page of HikVision Camera Configuration and you can find them on my repo at https://github.com/skalavala/smarthome/tree/master/hik-vision%20camera

You can find camera related sensors and automations here https://github.com/skalavala/smarthome/blob/master/packages/cameras.yaml

Good luck!

Thanks. Will use when i get my ones.

Would you recommend these cameras?

Id have to buy from aliexpress or ebay as i live in new zealand.

I love the cameras, and the quality. I got them from amazon for about $80 a piece.

Hi guys I have another question
Can you have home check for Motion detection without getting notifications on the Hikvision app?

Yes. You can get motion detection alerts in Home Assistant directly. One thing to note is that these cameras are not same as typical (heat sensing) PIR motion sensors. The way these cameras detect motion is by the differences between each frame. You have a lot of options available in the configuration settings, where you can set thresholds on when to notify. If you do not set the settings correctly, you may get a lot of false alarms.

It seems if I turn on motion detection I get alerts on the hik-connect app.

My WiFi wants to so she can see the feeds.

Is it possible to have motion detection on but not have alerts via their app?

is there away to turn motion detection off if I’m home?

Don’t know, but you could Just make a template sensor that decides if people are home or if it only monitors you then use your device tracker. Then add a condition that you are home to your automations that use motion.

:joy::joy::joy:

Yes, you can use the Camera Switch Function.

Lol, yes my Wife! dam auto correct.

I just tried this and it doesn’t seem to work. I get a connection error. Also I’m confused it says uses https only yet it mentions default port 80.

No I’m using https 443 for my web site, so I’ve changed the https port in hikvision to something else, but I’m still getting a connection error.

2018-06-21 07:24:59 ERROR (SyncWorker_14) [hikvision.api] There was an error
connecting to http://192.168.1.xx:port/MotionDetection/1/
2018-06-21 07:24:59 ERROR (SyncWorker_14) [hikvision.api] status_code 404

???

“Currently works using default https port only.”

on the hikvision switch page it states “Currently works using default https port only.”
the thing is I’m using the standard HTTPS port (443) to run my own website. I later found I can change the https port in the hikvision config settings.

that aside.
I wanted my system to only record motion detection and have HA pick it up, the problem was it would also ping a message to the hikvision app on our phones and pads.

last night I found a setting in the hikvision app which turns off “Alarm Notification” meaning I can have HA see the movement without messages filling up the app

now that I have this I can set up a automation that turns the lights on if we’re not home, it’s dark and there is motion in the garden.

Running your own website should have nothing to do with accessing your Hikvision NVR…Unless you are forwarding your Hikvision NVR ports, in which case, I would reconsider that…

I’m an Muppet of course it wouldn’t sorry having a dumb moment.
Oh no I’ve not port forward my cameras

You can still leave Hikvision on the default https port even though you are using that port for your website, HA would be accessing that port locally.
