History graph card: no more direct link to entity history?

Hey everyone,

Since the 2025.02 and 2025.03 updates, the history graph card lost a key feature: previously, tapping a graph would take you straight to the entity’s history view. Now, there’s no way to jump from the graph to long-term history.

I have several graphs showing the past six hours, and I used to tap them to quickly see the full day, previous day, or even the month. Now, tapping just brings up a tooltip (which also doesn’t close on iOS). To see history, I have to use the magnifying glass icon and manually search for the entity – which is far less convenient.

I really miss this functionality. How are you all dealing with it? Has this been acknowledged as an issue by the core team? I could post on GitHub, but with hundreds of open issues, I wanted to check here first – am I the only one annoyed by this change?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

If you add a title/header to a history graph card, it includes a link to the history panel with the pre-selected entities.

I think the tap to open more-info was mentioned during the echarts transition, and I think I recall it was decided to remove that.

Thanks! I never used headers for graphs, as they just take up space, especially on an iPhone – so I wouldn’t have noticed this feature myself.

As for removing “tap to open more info,” I don’t understand the reasoning. On pointer-based systems, you can show a tooltip on hover and trigger an action on click. Now, any accidental tap opens a tooltip that can’t be dismissed and blocks important data. It feels like this change wasn’t made with smartphone users in mind.

I want to second this opinion. The charts are already frustrating enough navigate. The added ability to zoom in and pan was a welcome addition. But most of the time I was zooming out, not zooming in. I feel like with this update, we lost an important ability to look at an entity’s entire history.

And as aleco pointed out, the tooltips that block the view are just annoying. I really hope the charts get a UX pass.

Another UX issue: In the iOS app, clicking a graph header to view long-term history has no way back. If zooming out in graphs were possible, this wouldn’t be an issue. But since switching to long-term history is needed for anything beyond the graph’s set range (e.g. when you’d want to view 24hrs but the graph is set to only display 3hrs), navigation becomes a hassle.
