Hive TRV001 Without the Hub

Hi all.

I’m hoping someone here can help me with Hive TRV001 smart radiator valves.
I’ve got a couple of the valves that I wanted to try out on an isolated part of the house without having to commit to buying a hub - I do not want lots of hubs for various different technology in the house, it must all run through HA directly.

Has anyone managed to get these devices integrated without the use of a hub?

If so, could you point me at the resource as I’m sure I’ve seen it once some months ago but am totally unable to locate that info now - I don’t know if it was on this forum or buried elsewhere.

I’ve got the App installed on my phone - but it’s wanting to see a hub first, and I’ve got the integration loaded to HA, but it’s saying ‘Failed to set up’… Again, I think because it’s tied to the Hive account, it’s looking for the presence of a Hub…

Any help appreciated!

Thanks!!

Z2M is compatible with the Hive thermostat etc, but this was the only TRV I could fine for Hive. Is it the same one?

If it is, then you can control it locally in HA using Z2M and Mosquitto. You’ll need a Sonoff USB stick (or equivalent) but if you look at the Z2M site, you’ll find that you can control most things with it.

Hi, yes, that’s the one I have.

Will have a play at installing Mosquitto and Zigbee2MQTT and see what happens!
Had a SONOFF 3.0 E dongle from experiments with door sensors that I decided to ditch…

Last issue on the setup was that the videos I watched used the long version for the port on the zigbee configuration where simply putting /dev/ttyACM0 worked first time…

Thanks  I’m all good to go!
