Home Assistant and Roku + Alexa

Hello everyone!!

I was curious to find out if anything is in the works to get some proper integration for Roku devices.

Last night, I discovered the Quick Remote skill/app and it actually works fairly good. You can do things like:

“Alexa, ask quick remote to open YouTube”

“Alexa, ask quick remote to play/pau/next/rewind”

:Alexa, ask quick remote up/down/left/right/select"

What I don’t like is that my commands are no only going through Amazon, but also through Quick Remote and my phone. So, if any one of these is not up (or I am personally not home with my phone), then quick remote stops working.

Would love to remove the 2 men in the middle and only rely on Amazon and my Home Assistant.

Is there any integration options currently for this or anything that is coming in the short future?

I found very little in help, from Google searches, to accomplish this outside of Quick Remote. What are they doing that is so special?

I’m not opposed to saying the additional skill name in the commands, as I’m sure this is the only way to get these commands. I don’t think that the new Amazon Video Skill can do anything like this?

Thanks for any help with this.

There is this new component emulated roku and recently Amazon announced that it supports roku but it requires linking your roku account so I doubt it works with this…

Thanks for the share. I may find some uses for this, but it doesn’t look like it allows the control of Roku. It just emulates a Roku device for calling HA like it was a Roku.

Ah my bad, maybe this is what you want?
