Which emmc reader works with the home assistant blue emmc module? Wanted to have it Incase I needed to rewrite the os.
OR this- (recommended) - higher speed transfer and you don’t need to buy USB Multi Reader
Oh so they both do work, I thought there was a distinction between the two as far as compatibility. Like one was for one kinda emmc and one was for another. Thanks
Wow shipping on that site is crazy and everything is in Korean for some reason. Actually cheaper on Amazon lol
That site is only ship outside of Korea. So it should be in English.
Shipping to Indonesia (near Singapore) was about 20 USD.
You can consider buying extra eMMC, PWN fan, and eMMC reader so you won’t need to buy later on as the shipping is quite expensive.
Is the odroid n2 good enough to run home assistant on or will performance be notably improved by using an odroid n2+? Like is it doable? Will I really notice a significant difference in how responsive my smart home is with a n2+ compared to a n2 regular?
I don’t think performance gain will be significant, but again, the price difference is very small (only 4USD difference). In addition, the N2 is already discontinued. So, you’ll better off choosing the N2+.
As you live in the US, you can also buy HA Blue from AmeriDroid (however it may takes forever until the product is shipped to you).
If you are in a hurry, you can just buy from Hardkernel but not the Blue version (as it is listed as out of stock since long ago). You can just buy bare N2+ + 2 pcs (64GB eMMC - 1 pcs as a backup) + eMMC reader + PWM fan (which will be supported in OS 6.3) + regular case.
May I ask what addons and integration you are planning to install on Odroid N2+?
I have a hubitat, a hue bridge n bulbs n dimmer switches, ecowitt weather station and moisture sensors and temp and humidity sensors, z wave temp and humidity sensors, Lowes iris gen 2 ZigBee motion sensors, a Zoosk outdoor motion sensor. A Zoosk indoor with simultaneous battery and usb micro with acceleration sensor, and a few stupid tuya switches I can’t justify throwing out. I wanted to try to migrate everything to just directly speak to a z wave and ZigBee adapter if possible using a odroid n2+ running it natively on a 128 or 64 GB emmc. Not sure which would really be necessary. Also wondering if installing in a docker image would work better and be more stable.
Also is a 50$ difference significant? Found it used on ebay.
Based on your addons/integration, I suppose N2+ can handle it easily.
In my setup, because I use Frigate with 2 cameras, the CPU usage is around 15-17%, while RAM usage is about 40%. Anything that includes decoding video would consume a lot CPU (each camera adds about 6% of CPU).
I do have a blueiris integration but , also is 32 gb enough space? How much can I get away with?
And is it really necessary to have two emmc modules? How likely is it to just stop working?
Depends on what you are planning to save in the eMMC.
Why don’t you look at your current setup using Glances addon? I prefer to use Glances as it is more accurate rather than looking at Supervisor panel.
- RAM Usage
- Drive Usage
That way you can determine the eMMC size that you need.
