Home Assistant bricked after attempting to update OS from 9.0 to 9.2

Updating (or at least trying to) Home Assistant Operating System from 9.0 to 9.2 has apparently bricked my HA installation  I can access the shares on my Pi4 but that’s it.

I’m on nabu casa and it’s not responding either. Just a HA logo in the middle. No “Retrying in n seconds”.

I’m wondering if my only option is to do a clean reinstall and setup all automations again?

Running a “ha core check” just sits there Processing… I haven’t done this before, but it’s been processing for several minutes now. How long should I expect a core check to take?

EDIT: After about 10 minutes it returned this:

Post "http://supervisor/core/check": context deadline exceeded (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers)

Doing a ha core rebootfrom the command line returns this:

[core-ssh ~]$ ha core reboot
Processing... Done.
Error: Unknown error, see supervisor

The last entries in home-assistant.log are these:

2022-10-13 16:19:13.838 WARNING (MainThread) [homeassistant.components.hassio] Can't read Supervisor data: System is not ready with state: shutdown

2022-10-13 16:19:49.166 ERROR (Thread-12) [pychromecast.socket_client] [Stue TV(192.168.0.192):8009] Failed to connect. No retries.

2022-10-13 16:19:49.169 ERROR (Thread-15) [pychromecast.socket_client] [Bedroom Chromecast(192.168.0.228):8009] Failed to connect. No retries.

Has anyone got any suggestions to how I get it running again? Rebooting my Pi4 does nothing - no additional entries to the log.

Thanks in advance

a disk error maybe?

You should backup before upgrading anything, also use Samba Share to download your backup files to a PC. So next time a clean install does not matter that much anymore.

I actually do have backups  I just hesitate to restore them as I fear to restore my problems as well. I’ve been recommended switching from an SD card in my Pi to an external SSD. I think I’ll go that way…
