Home Assistant Cloud set up but not working

Hi all,

Just wanted to check if I am doing something wrong here -
All I did was go to the Settings>Home Assistant Cloud section, switched it on and signed up to the Nabu Casa cloud.

The link it gave me for remote access works perfectly.

The mobile app for HA however does not -
Unable to connect to Home Assistant with Settings/Refresh External URL or Wait as an option.

Cloud Connection is Connected and not seeing anything in the logs unless I am missing it.

Note, I am new to HA and only just paired up all the z-wave devices

Thanks in advance!

Hi @skykit

Just to get a feel for what’s going on, here are some things you may want to check:

  • Does the Companion (mobile) app work when your phone is connected to your home (wi-fi) network?
  • Can you connect to HA using a web browser on your phone when you are not connected to your home network?

Hello, HotSchedules

I have the same problem with facing same issue but no response from anyone and couldn’t find this topic troubleshooting in search engine.

Hi @templeton_nash

Thanks for getting back to me

  1. Yes - Works perfectly at home on wi-fi - in actual fact, must better than my previous automation system

  2. Yes - Assuming you mean via the URL Nabu Casa has generated ? Then yes, this is accessible on my standard 4G/5G/LTE connection and also as I type, works perfectly on my laptop at work

This seems purely to do with the App itself

I’m clutching at straws but:

In the Companion app → Settings → Companion app → (whatever you instance is called under Servers and Devices - probably ‘Home’) → Home Assistant URL → is Use HA Cloud turned on?

I was contemplating shutting my forum account and starting a new one just to save the embarrassment. Bearing in mind I’m a developer so to even ask a question like this was on here was a brave one!

Cannot believe I missed this - I did switch this on I’m sure but I’m now thinking whether I did it in the first iteration of HA which I then wiped once I was happy with it…and started again.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious

I’m glad I could help
