There is no way to use a Unifi Controller either local or cloud based with the UDM / UDM Pro/ UDM SE or similar devices. They have Unifi OS on board with the controller on board. They cannot be added to remote or multi site controllers.
Why would you want to use the Home Assistant add-on when you have the UDM Pro? The Controller in the UDM Pro has more functionality for the UDM devices than an external controller does.
The Unifi Add-on does not give you a panel within Home Assistant. You still have to use the Unifi Web Interface so it will always be a separate page and not a panel within Home Assistant.
Hi folks. I have USG and 16 port poe switch. I managed to install integration for Home Assistant and now I’m wondering:
is it possible to create automation when one of the poe port’s W is “0” then turn “USG uplink port” switch to off and back on?
I have a problem with USG and Huawei modem. When modem loses it’s power and it turns back on, USG does not understand that Internet is working. Internet in really working but USG or Huawei does something that causes USG to show that internet connection is not connected.
When I unplug cable from USG and put it back → after that Unifi realizes that ok internet is available and let’s go. Now I’m trying to automate that part of unplugging and plugging the cable.
It doesn’t happen ofter but when it does and I’m not home…
@frenck is there a way to control poe power to a device that has no mac address? I am basically using poe to charge 2 tablets and want to be able to switch them on and off but the ports dont show up in the integration. Is there a way to specify a port you want to switch?
Same for me. It also seems that watchdog does not properly work anymore since even with enabled watchdog, the addon stays in “stopped” mode.
When I hit “Start”, the addon starts and works for a while until it crashes again.
I have no idea why this is happening and it happens several times a day - sometimes I restart the addon 8 times… That started in one of the last releases tho - had no issues before.
Exactly. I have the same config as you and watchdog will not see it as a crash so doesn’t start it again.
Luckily I’m my case it’s not crashing much anymore. I suspect something in the latest supervisor or HA updates stabilized it.
As a workaround I enabled the “addon running” sensor and an automation to send me a message on my phone when it stopped so I can start it again.
There seems to be a new version of the unifi controller out, called 7.2.92
My controller is still running 7.1.68 and i have not gotten any notification of a new version.
When i look in HA in the addon section, i am running the unifi integration version 2.3.1
Has anyone gotten an update ? The unifi controller version was released on August 9, so it’s been quite some time since it’s release, and usually the controller is updated fairly quickly
I have a synology rackstation, which is going to run Home Assistant. This rackstation shall also run the unifi controller. Does running this inside Home Assistant instead of running it as a separate docker have any advantages? (Quicker, easier update? More functions through deeper integration?)
So now 7.2.94 is released, but HA still on version 7.1.xx
Not to sound ungrateful, but updates to Unifi, via HA, has been painfully slow as of lately, i do know that this is maintained by people that are not paid, but it would still be nice if the 7.2 versions were made available sometime soon if possible.
Recently I have not been able to access the web interface for the controlller. I get the message “Database migration in progress” indefinitely. The network itself is still working fine.
Home assistant storage is showing about 86% full with about 2.6GB free.
Any suggestions on how best to get this working again without losing all my settings in the controller?
I don’t actually have a full backup from before the issue started occurring unfortunately. I save 2 months worth of weekly backups and the earliest backup still has the issue.
I should have looked into this earlier but because the network is working I never got around to it…
On the unifi addon info page ...:8123/hassio/addon/a0d7b954_unifi/info I see this message.
You are running Home Assistant 2022.9.4, to update to this version of the add-on you need at least version of Home Assistant
I’m guessing “you need at least version of Home Assistant” is somewhat of a bug because it looks like it is missing some information.
I’m guessing it isn’t that it isn’t that I just need to upgrade from hass minor version 2022.9.4 to 2022.9.6.
**Update: ** - Once I clicked the update button, I get the message Add-on a0d7b954_unifi not supported on that platform
Doing some digging it looks like the problem is my base OS is a 32bit install of Raspbian Buster. 0.23.2 is the last version of the addon that supports 32bits.
(At the moment I don’t have a 64bit Home Assistant install at that location with the Unifi stuff to easily move to, and I have a lot of stuff to reinstall in order to change the OS.)
But now I can’t find a way to update to 0.23.2. The ha addons update command doesn’t take a version argument.
Is there a way to do it manually? I guess I could pull the 0.23.2 image, but I think I’d need to update the addon metadata to get it to use the updated image.
Next question, can I restore the Home Assistant Addon backup for Unifi from a 32bit host onto a 64bit host? Will the underlying MongoDB need to be converted?
Am I better off trying to do an backup/export from the Unifi controller itself and restoring/importing using a fresh install of the Unifi UI on a new host?
Hi everyone
I am new here, and of course i brought a problem with me
I want to add a simple presence option in my home assistant.
My Problem is that i am using a unifi controller on my stationary computer, means when i am shutting down my computer, i also shutting down the unifi controller.
My installation of my device is in the following order:
1 Fritzbox (modem)
2 security Gateway (Router)
3 Unifi Access Point
Almost every solution i saw (i don´t want Bluetooth detection), the read the presence status, and needs the router information.
I thought their might be solution or work around, using the unifi Gateway or access point to get the needed information while the Controller is offline.
So lucky if you can help me.
Thanks a lot
Greetz Fabian
I’m trying to spin my head around the Ubiquity ecosystem, and I hope some one here can help me out.
I want to buy three Unify 6 Pro access points for each floor of my home. My ISP, though required by law to support own routers, won’t work properly with a dream machine - I’m bound to use their router which cannot be setup in bridge mode.
I read I can setup an access point for standalone use using an app. There’s also this great addon I’m contemplating to use. Now what I’m curious to know: is there a difference in how my wifi would perform accross the home using either of these three options (besides ease of use), for example in terms of handover when I move from floor to floor:
Set up three stand-alone accesspoints
Use this controller addon and configure the accesspoints through it
Have a dream machine with the controller inside it in addition to the access points (not really an option for me)
And last but not least: is the controller needed all the time, or will the accesspoints work just as well while HA and this addon is offline?
Trying to setup a connection to openVPN on my unifi USG for one VAP. All I have left is to copy the config.gateway.json file into the /sites/default folder in the unifi controller Addon.
Using Windows11 it seems impossible to add the text file into the homeassistant unifi backup archive. Winrar is extract ONLY. So I tried the re-compression with 7zip and it cannot seem to get the file paths right because of the . and \ as seen below
.\xxxxxxx_unify.tar.gz
Is there a way to just copy the config.gateway.json file into the Unifi Controller addon for the pi directly instead of trying to restore the file inside of that addon?
