Home Assistant Community Add-on: Visual Studio Code

Hello,
I see that this add-on has not been updated since 2019.
I have encountered two serious problems:

  1. When using both CPU and MEMORY, usage increases significantly. For example, if you modify the code for a long time, the CPU can reach 40% on my mini-PC used as an HA server, and memory usage can reach up to 60%. This usage does not decrease once you stop using the add-on, but remains high, and to bring it back to normal values, you have to stop the add-on and restart it without entering it again! I think this is an important bug to fix.

  2. With the latest Home Assistant updates, writing many types of sensors has been deprecated and the syntax changed. However, since Visual Studio Code has not been updated for years, this returns errors that do not exist, and even the code suggested by Home Assistant itself to change the syntax of the various sensors within the add-on is reported as an error, creating great confusion for those who use it.
Given that the deprecation expires in June 2026, after which these sensors will stop working if the syntax is not changed, I am officially requesting an update to the add-on in line with this new Home Assistant update.

This Add-on has been updated often with the last update being earlier this month or late last month, currently version 6.0.1 is available. That said I rolled back to 5.19.3 due to the HA Config Helper showing a bunch of errors and warnings that are not valid.

The error still persists. Does anybody know how to solve it? @HappyCadaver how can I get the previous version to roll back? Many thanks

I kept a backup as I always do for updating Apps (formerly Add-ons), I’m pretty sure you can go to your system backup prior to your updating and select to only restore the Add-on (as it’s currently labelled).

I did, but by some reason it made a copy of the same add-on, not the old one, so I lost the old backup… Is there any repository where I could download a previpus version?
Maybe I can uninstall the add-on and when reinstalling it choose an older version?
Many thanks

There are alternatives. I’m now using this one: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/blueprint-studio-a-modern-file-editor-for-home-assistant/958945.
