Home Assistant Core can't start

Hello,

Decided to update Home Assitant Core, OS and Supervisor to the latest versions. I successfully did so with both OS and Supervisor but before I got to the Core it wasn’t possible since it crashed.

It is looping indefinitely with exit code 256 and signal 11. I am running HA core in docker.

I reverted back to 2022.5 and it boots. I think my issue might be related to the Python 3.10 update in HA 2022.7

how can you revert to another version if the application doesnt load? is this something we can do in the “emergency console”?

After upgrade my device got locked with the following errors:
“Cannot connect to the Docker deamon at unix:///var/run/docker.sock. Is the docker deamon running?”
“[WARN] Home Assistant CLI not starting! Jump into emergency console…”

I’m running HA Core in Docker so I can specify the version of the image to use. In HA Supervised I’m not sure how you can recover your instance. Did you make a backup? If so, you could boot a fresh install then restore your backup.

I always tick the make backup checkbox during upgrade, so hopefully I have a backup plan

it seems that my sda1 device cannot be mounted, it is suggesting I mount it with noload, but here I am outside of my knowledge area

Yeah there is definitely an issue. I’ve been looking for answers and I saw a ton of errors about 3.10. Reverted to tag 2022.5 as @Wetzel402 mentioned and I am back. Thank you!

Wait! What! There’s an “emergency console”?

I was able to recover with an older backup via cli with the SSH add-on. Where the core version is 2021.5.1. But same versions of OS and Supervisor.

I’ve tried to install every subversion of 2022.7 on Docker (QNAP NAS).
They show the same problem:
[14:44:09] INFO: Home Assistant Core finish process exit code 256
[14:44:09] INFO: Home Assistant Core finish process received signal 11
[14:44:10] INFO: Home Assistant Core finish process exit code 256

[14:44:11] INFO: Home Assistant Core finish process exit code 256
[14:44:11] INFO: Home Assistant Core finish process received signal 11

It is looping infinitely.

The last subversion of 2022.6 (2022.6.7) is working well.

What is the exact problem? How we can solve it?

I have been trying to get this to work on a new raspberry pi with Rocky Linux and podman for many hours. It looks like the was a issue with the image which is a little hard to swallow.

When looking at other post the fix it editing the ‘stable’ in the section that calls out what gets downloaded and installed. homeassistant/home-assistant:stable

The other post I found mensioned a different download, but I like the solution in this post. Simply edit :stable to :2022-5

The code I used is below

podman run -d \
  --name homeassistant \
  --privileged \
  --restart=unless-stopped \
  -e TZ=America/Chicago \
  -v /:/config \
  --network=host \
  homeassistant/home-assistant:stable

At least for some of us it appears the issue is related to running an old Linux Kernel.

The last known working version for armhf devices is 2022.6.7.

There is an open github issue here. I need to try to build HA on my machine but haven’t gotten there yet. Anyone with an armhf system is welcome to build a newer version of HA and see if it boots.

The arm32v7 version of the latest update of HA is working for me now where the homeassistant images were not. Might work for others

https://hub.docker.com/layers/linuxserver/homeassistant/arm32v7-2023.1.0/images/sha256-31b3658f613647409f4cf5fe864dbb7263dad021b9a845ec521cd9eaa0f25471?context=explore

It was discovered the linuxserver.io image uses different wheels and does work for those on arm32v7. It seems there is still an issue to prove out for arm32v6 though.

It should also be noted the in house HA image still doesn’t work. The HA team will likely need to rebuild wheels.

This problem was with incorrect work of auditwheel+patchelf.

Two LOAD sections in green color with incorrect alignment in patched libries (1000 instead 10000).

When the patch will be accepted and the Home Assistant+wheels devs take the new version of patchelf > 0.17.2 and rebuild the Home Assistant image and wheels we will have a working version again.
