Home Assistant Green Factory reset without internet connection

Hi guys.

I currently don’t have internet access since my provider has to splice the cable. However I want to do a clean install of my Home Assistant green. Therefor I wanted to Factory reset it with a USB-Stick. Downloaded the following image:

Flashed it as described in the guide: https://support.nabucasa.com/hc/en-us/articles/25162566451485-Resetting-the-device-using-an-SD-card

Proceeded with doing the reset… But it throws me the following error:
[WARN] Home Assistant CLI not starting! Jump into emergency console…

I tried with a simple “login” but why should this help… It didn’t obviously and now I’m here… is it really the only way to connect it to the internet?

To answer your question directly. yes, Home Assistant Green must be connected to the internet during a factory reset. It needs to download its OS components, CLI, and Supervisor. Without network access—even with everything else configured—it won’t complete the install and will drop into that emergency console with the.
[WARN] Home Assistant CLI not starting! message.

Hm okay thanks for your honesty

Will wait until I have Internet then…

Wouldn’t deleting .secrets and most if not all of items in config folder = factory reset?
