I am relatively new to home assistant with about 2 months of experience. I have an issue where my home assistant client is losing connection to the network every night at 10pm. I’ve tried searching and watching YouTube but come up empty. Any advice? Thanks in advance
Machine- dell optiplex
Router- eero
Modem- net gear night hawk
Connection- wired/Ethernet from modem to router to a unmanaged switch to home assistant
The dell machine is not losing power, just internet. No other devices lose internet at same time. A reboot of the dell and I’m good to go until the next night.
As an extension to the above, ensure your machine running HA has no DHCP leased IP address. The best practice for devices that must be always available in the network is to fix IP address on the machine side. It’s because when DHCP disappears from the network, devices might lose their addresses (often reset to their defaults)
Thank you both, I checked based on your recommendation and confirmed my IP is static and port forwarding is on.
In a new development, I also randomly lost connection overnight so it appears it is happening both at 10pm and sporadically. I am tempted to try a fresh install and see if maybe I mucked something up along the way.
