Home assistant on intel NUC7PJYH

Hello guys,

I am unsing hassio now since 2 year aon a RPi 4 and now anted to change to my Nuc with 256GB SSD.
I upgraded to Nuc’s BIOS and downloaded The Nuc Image hassos_intel-nuc-4.15.img and flashed it to ssd using etcher.
When i now wanted to start the NUC i cannot boot from SSD.
I Already tried disable secure boot, wifi. and activate internal UEFI.
Can anyone help me?

Is this the right way to flasch the image directly to the ssd, is this bootable after flashing it with etcher?

Thank you guys in advance.
Best regards,
Dominik

Try using a linux live flash drive to get access to how the NUC sees the file system on the disk, it may be missing a partition, not be setup as GPT, corrupted, or something else

Honestly, I would recommend using a regular linux os or proxmox, and adding hass.io as a VM

Hello Richie,
Thanks for your feedback, i will give the linux live tutorial a try.
Why do you suggest running it in a VM?
What are the pros and cons?

If you are using hass.io now and are using any of the additional features of the os beyond hass, then you need to go the vm route or you will either lose those features or need to work around them. That may not be an issue for you, if so I would go the docker route instead since it is a lot easier to manage

I have successfully installed it via Ubuntu live, with disc restore function.
Everything works fine
