Home Assistant on raspberrypi ZERO W

I want to use homeassistant with pi zerow and esp8266 nodes. I installed hasbian and it worked like charm on pi3. Then i heard about pi zero w the pizero with wifi chip. But when i use my sd card which worked on pi 3 with pi 0 w i am unable to connect my pi 0 with my home network. Both of them the pi3 and zero w have same wifi chip. But i dont understand why is this happening.
first i thought my wifi chip might be faulty but then i downloaded the latest jessie lite and used the card with my pi zeroW and guess what i was able to connect to my home wifi network

Anyone have any solution? I am stuck with this road block . Please help

Install HA on your Jessie light card that works, and copy your config across?

Apt get upgrade?
Support didn’t exist in version running on your Pi3

I’m curious … what are esp8266 nodes? And what can you do with it?

They are a range of little boards with wifi and some gpio ports. They are the basis of sonof and many other wifi based sensors and switches.

I see, I also use them in sonoffs and wemos devices. I thought maybe you have another use case for them.
