Home Assistant OS on Western Digital PR4100 NAS?

Hi all,

Hoping i am posting this in the right area. I have been running HA OS on a Pi3 and love it. I have about a half dozen add-ons running and really reaching the limit of what the PI3 can do. I was interested in moving it to a WD NAS. Does anyone know if this is possible? I like how simple the add-ons are in HA so I would like to keep what I can in there rather than run separate containers on the NAS.

Much appreciated.

Only if your NAS supports Virtual Machines.

Hi, I’m brand new to home assistant (and home bridge). As in I’ve installed them today and now get to play with them to see what I can do.

I’m not sure if it helps, but I managed to install HA Core on my PR4100 over the course of the day today in Portainer.
Had to get docker up and running.
Then added a stack for home bridge.
Then wondered if I could get Home Assistant also running…. Success!

Let me know if you need/want more details as this is an old question and I’ll try to talk you through what I accomplished.

Re-reading the getting started pages, I may have installed HA container… when I went to the About on it after install it listed Core and Frontend.
