I am new to Home Assitant. I started running as a VM in my Unraid Server. Works great. I am trying to set up remote access. Since I am already running letsencrypt docker (swag) in Unraid. is there any way to utilize the same for a Home assistant? I tried making changes in swag config to access home assistant in a subdomain. It worked but after login, it’s showing “Unable to connect to Home Assistant.” Do I need to make any configuration changes in HA?
I am running it in a VM in kvm.
Did not need any special config to setup, but I am running the nginx proxy manager add on in that vm as well. O
I do not now swag but a quick Google search says it is a nginx reverse proxy with certbot. So almost the same setup. The only difference is, that your proxy is outside the vm.
You need DNS point to your home IP
You need port forwarding from your router to the proxy. You will most likely need 443 and 80. 80 is used for let’s encrypt http challenge.
Configure your proxy to forward to :8123
No special home Assistent config as far as I know.
That way you can access home Assistent in your local network via ip and from outside via DNS record
