Background
Hoping someone here can at least confirm that this is possible. I’ve done some basic poking around but haven’t really found the exact answer I’m looking for. I’ve found various combinations of my requirements, but it seems as though no one has really done exactly what I want. I’m new to HA, but I am pretty tech savvy. I’d like to try and work this out for myself, but I just need to know if this is even possible or if I should move on from this idea.
Our household only uses Spotify for all music source needs. I have several MusicCast systems throughout the house. Main one is in our home theater. I have MusicCast WX-010 speakers in our bathroom and living room and kitchen. I also have a MusicCast Yamaha Stereo Receiver in our covered back patio. Everything works great from our iPhone’s using this setup, but there is complications in adding rooms if we want to have whole house audio going. It’s totally possible from the MusicCast app, but it’s not intuitive for the rest of the family to use.
Main Requirements for Spotify/MusicCast Whole House Audio
- Player will be strictly Spotify. That’s the only music server we use at home
- Needs to work from HA using a Wallpanel running a custom dashboard in any room (I plan to have 3 of them total)
- I want to be able to select any speaker or audio destination from the dashboard on the wall panel using MusicCast and be able to add multiple speakers from the dashboard.
- Has to be easy to use for anyone in the house. Pick an artist, album or playlist, pick the speaker(s) you want to hear it on and hit go.
From all I’ve been reading, this, in theory, should all be possible. Can anyone here chime in and comment on this? I will gladly document my progress as I build this system up but I just don’t want to go down a deep rabbit hole only to discover this simply will not work as I intend it to.
Thank you in advance everyone!
