Home Assistant won’t install on VM VirtualBox

Hi everyone first post on this forum!

I’m having an issue installing Hass.io on my computer via a virtual machine. I’ve followed this YouTube tutorial step by step https://youtu.be/sVqyDtEjudk yet I’m unable to launch Home Assistant as the VM stays frozen on “hassio: port 2 (veth5e38764) entered forwarding state”. Anyone have any idea as to how I can launch home assistant?

That video is pretty good… I followed it right up where they said to make a static IP in the VM… Don’t… Get the mac address for the VM and set it up in \your router… worked great for me… HA in VM works perfect.

I followed that to the letter also and it’s a great solution for running HA.

The VM does create it’s own MAC and therefore your router assigns it its own IP. Checking you router allocations may provide the clue you need.
