I’ve had my Home Assistant Yellow for at least 1.5 years. Last year at some point, I decided I wanted to explore Zigbee. I bought a compatible radio, installed it and the Zigbee Home Automation integration. I found a YouTube video that made it appear more complicated than I had the time for, so I let all that sit.
Today, I decided to explore Zigbee again and noticed that, in addition to the installed integration, there was also a Yellow Zigbee Home Automation integration sitting in the Discovery section. I certainly don’t remember seeing it there before.
I’m not sure what to do at this point. Do I install the Yellow Zigbee Home Automation integration? Do I remove Zigbee Home Automation?
The Yellow has a built-in zigbee radio. It is fine to use, the install would have found it on your first start.
It is possible that it wants a firmware update at this point, but being Nabu-Casa hardware it will tell you that.
The compatible radio could just
Save it for one day when you want to try thread/matter devices.
Yeah, I don’t know how I missed that.
I bought a Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus which is attached to my Yellow. If the Yellow has one built in, wouldn’t I want to remove the Sonoff? I’m imagining these two radios fighting/causing problems.
