I’m confused. Are we talking about this Home Connect?
Where are you imagining that the power draw information is going to come from?
Each appliance could send power information, but that depends on them supporting it.
I also just installed the Home Connect integration as I thought there will be a energy entity. Well bummer.
However in case of the dishwasher I suppose there is a workaround: There are entities for every one of the specific wash program and on the BSH website you can find the energy consumption for each of the programs.
I suppose you could then calculate and create a template that divides the e.g. 1,5kWh / 45 minutes = 2000 Watt at any time during the 45 minutes.
I want to buy a new three-phase kitchen stove and therefore i am looking for one with Home Connect mainly to integrate the energy consumption meter into my HomeAssistant without having to install an additional power meter on the supply line.
Have logged into the developer portal and have raised the question with the support team. Wanted to know whether the power / energy usage data is physically not available or simply not exposed via API.
Will report back if I get a reply. Seems to me such a natural feature to have, but their FAQ doesn’t mention anything either.
Have you received any feedback yet? We also do have dishwasher, oven and hob? I am afraid I will need to use smart socket for dishwasher and oven but it’s not so easy for hob.
Of course, I can use Shelly 3EM but it’s not cheapest solution and what makes me crazy - the consumption is visible directly on the hob’s display, so why not to be exposed such entity.
This is what I got from the support ask. This is from march 2025.
I’m very sorry for late response. We do not provide energy consumption data via API. It’s something we have on our roadmap, but I cannot provide any specifics. We are aware it would be much welcomed addition by many users and we are working towards providing it at some point (but it is a bit challenging task to do correctly).
Additionally Smart Start is currently only available in Home Connect and not accessible through the API but we take your suggestion under consideration for further development.
Their answer is ridiculous, there are dozens of devices and smart plugs that expose power consumption… sounds more like admitting that their marketing department wants to keep this data for themselves because that’s the only one that has value.
Let’s cross fingers that we’ll have it soon in HA…
I think the question is whether they have installed the necessary components. The information provided in the dishwasher programs, for example, is probably only estimates from the laboratory. There may also be a legal component or liability issues involved.
If all customers now realize that the consumption figures provided are not accurate in practice, there may be concerns about complaints.
On the other hand, Samsung can do it and offers it
Good catch !
I now realize that the power and water consumption given in the app are the same at each cycle, they could be estimates and not measurements.
Not wise from BSH …
I have Miele washing machine and tumbler dryer, they seem to report real measurements. And the enrollment in HA was a charm (self discovery, etc)
recently I also joinned to the Home Connect and Home Assistant community. I have a Siemens iQ500 diswasher which is connected to Home Connect where I can see the water and energy consumption.
I conencted the Diswasher to HA via Home Connect, all sensors are working nice, program to finish, door status etc… there are some hidden sensors like salt and rinse nearly empty…
As I read now in this community and in several others as well, the energy and water is not populated to HA via HC. that’s BAD
I found this other forum over HA, i would like to ask the experts how this guy did it then?
Is it really:
entities:
- entity: >- sensor.edited_bsh_common_option_energyforecast_2
show_state: true
I tried some tricks in the HA, but the sensor is not responding at all… the other post is also from 2024 October time since then 1,5 years passed and I hardly believe that there is no simple water and energy consupmtion pass from HC to HA.
Has anybody from this forum managed to get the data in the mean time?
